Artificial grass is sold on looks, but it is chosen on use. Here is how to narrow it down quickly.

Pile height

25mm is right for balconies and roof terraces — it is easier to clean and does not flatten under furniture. 35–40mm looks more like a real lawn and feels better underfoot, which matters if children will play on it.

Density

Density decides how the lawn ages. A dense pile stands back up after being walked on; a sparse one develops permanent tracks within a season.

Drainage

Check the backing. Perforated backing lets rain and hose water through, which is essential on any surface that will get wet — and non-negotiable if you have pets.

UV stability

Egyptian sun is unforgiving. UV-stabilised fibres keep their colour for years; untreated ones fade to a grey-green within a single summer.
